So we had finally found a bus! We had looked online contacted a ton of bus companies, went and saw a few buses. We even drove into Pennsylvania for a bus that the seller didn't even bother to come and show it to us. Upside, we found a great little brewery in Chalfont that had awesome Buffalo tofu bites and terrific beer.
We got our bus from Wolfington Bus Company in Exton, PA and it could not have been a better experience. Jim Wofington was so super helpful and made the process so simple. We had a friend or a friend with a CDL drive it home for us per Jim's request and our awesome neighbor backed it onto our driveway. We were so excited to finally be bringing this bus home after months and months of searching. The dream had become a reality and now we can start converting this into something super special.
While we were waiting to find the perfect bus and bring it home we started planning, researching and dreaming about this adventure. I feel like I learn something new everyday that will benefit us with the bus conversion. I'm researching solar systems and electrical, trying to find some components used to keep the costs down and all this while running a business and caring for my family. No wonder I go to bed so early!
We have had the bus for one week and have gotten half the seats out. My husband has become super awesome with the angle grinder. We probably would have gotten more done but Mother Nature dropped some snow on us that made doing anything hard for a few days. Now that spring is just around the corner we hope to be able to put as much time into this adventure as possible. The hope is to have it done in 12 months and go on the road. We are giving ourselves a bit of leeway with this timeline as we have seen a lot of bus conversions on YouTube and know that it is not always an easy undertaking. We do have an amazing support system and our friends are super stoked to join us for the conversion.
I hope you will follow our journey to complete our bus and continue to follow us once we get moving across the country. We would love to meet other skoolies and birth workers and anyone who likes the adventure of life. Please feel free to comment, message on FB or email with anything you might want to share.
